From Lens first visit to Vietnam in 1989 his support and work grew and he became determined to do everything he could to help the country and its people. He had for several years been secretary of an association relating to Vietnam, shortly after he left the association closed down.
In 1992 he decided to continue his work and founded the Britain-Vietnam friendship Society (BVFS). Within a few years the first of their projects came into being.
