Len was a special man, who lived his life in a way that left a large mark on the world. A proud Welshman with great compassion and principles, he was not only the leader of the British-Viet Nam Friendship Society, but the president of the Board of Trustees of the Marx Memorial Library. His tireless work for the Viet Namese victims of the American War was widely respected and appreciated. Even though his country did not participate in that atrocious war – and the unconscionable chemical weapon of Agent Orange (AO) – Len’s great heart and intellect recognized one of the worst war crimes in the history of the world. He never faltered in his solidarity for the millions of AO victims born with hideous birth defects, countless illnesses and a huge range of physical and mental disabilities. His death leaves a void that will not be easily filled.
